Those who lost their lives in the attacks, the thousands of emergency personnel who responded and worked so tirelessly, as well as every American who was affected by the tragic events of 9/11 are remembered and honored on this 10th anniversary of the attacks as The Lindenwood Chancel Choir and Orchestra are joined by Lindenwood’s clergy for this service of readings, prayer and communion and featuring the music of Brahms, Mozart, Rutter, and concluding with Samuel Barber’s haunting “Adagio for Strings.”
We are delighted to welcome one of the area’s newest – and finest orchestral ensembles for the first time at Lindenwood. The Eroica Ensemble features talented Mid-South musicians and is conducted by Michael Gilbert, who retired from the New York Philharmonic after over 30 seasons. This unique ensemble will be joined by violin soloist Joy Brown Wiener, who was Concertmaster of the Memphis Symphony for over 40 seasons. This promises to be a special afternoon of music as some of Memphis’ own ‘international musicians’ play together for the first time! The concert is free and no tickets are required.
“The Christmas Spectacular” is always a highlight of the Memphis musical season and this 34th annual concert promises to be one of the best ever! The nationally acclaimed Lindenwood Chancel Choir and Orchestra will present such traditional favorites as “The Hallelujah Chorus”, “O Holy Night” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, as well as the area premiere of several exciting new arrangements and original holiday music, and Lindenwood’s own resident artists, ‘Anthony and Beard,’ will play selections from their newest CD, “Joy to the World!” Join us for this spectacular evening of holiday celebration!
General Admission tickets are available for a $12 donation after September 15. 901-458-1652.
